Wedding on Ærø, Denmark
Denmark is the perfect place for couples who want to celebrate their wedding in a relaxed atmosphere. With its unique combination of impressive landscapes and uncomplicated bureaucracy, Denmark is a popular destination for weddings. As a wedding photographer in Denmark, I have accompanied many wonderful weddings and can say from experience that every wedding here is a true adventure. Just like the wedding of Sonja and Patrick, which I am introducing to you today.
A winter wedding in Denmark
Sonja and Patrick decided to travel to Denmark for their wedding. Patrick is originally from Germany, Sonja from an island state in Africa. The two currently live in China, where they met. For their wedding they chose Ærø, one of Denmark's most romantic islands, known for intimate and unforgettable weddings.
It was a cold winter day in Denmark and although Sonja is not used to cold weather, she bravely held out. We spent almost an hour on the beach and in windy, picturesque places to capture the beauty of Nordic nature and her love. Her strength and joy in front of the camera made the images particularly authentic and emotional.
For the photo shoot, I brought some creative touches with me, including a string of lights that created a fairytale atmosphere. I also often take a veil with me, which many brides don't wear these days, but which is perfect for special wedding photos. It's always a joy to capture such unique moments with a veil.
The Wedding – First Look
On the wedding day in Denmark, we started with the bride and groom's first look. If time allows, I always find it particularly beautiful to capture this moment. The first look is a very intimate moment that shows the couple's connection. These photos are always a highlight and remain in the couple's memories forever.
In this case, we shot the first look in front of the registry office in Ærøskøbing.
Civil marriage in Denmark
After the first look, we made our way to the registry office in Ærøskøbing, where Sonja and Patrick shared their "I do" moments. Civil weddings on Ærø are easy and quick - ideal for couples looking for a hassle-free wedding in Denmark.
Almost 4000 weddings take place on Ærø every year. With only about 6000 inhabitants, the island is a popular destination for weddings and many couples from all over the world come here to tie the knot. As a wedding photographer Denmark, it is always a pleasure to photograph such special moments in this picturesque setting.
Couple photos on Ærø
After the civil ceremony, our journey took us to the historic town of Ærøskøbing. This charming town is one of the oldest in Europe and is characterized by its colorful houses and narrow, winding streets. For the couple shoot, we stayed at the harbor and took beautiful photos there.
Afterwards we visited the church in Ærøskøbing, where we took magical pictures with the fairy lights and the veil. It is a real advantage in Denmark that you do not need a permit to take photos in churches or other special places. This makes Denmark a paradise for wedding photographers.
